I enjoyed the history that is accurately portrayed as it encoumpases political, social, and religious differences and skillfully sends the message that people are people everywhere. In 1936 I married Alden Speare a, I was born in Melrose, Massachusetts, on November 21, 1908. Very interesting and a different historic lesson than is taught in school. I read this over and over as a child, especially savoring the descriptions of life in Montreal--the dishes, the furniture, the food, the hot chocolate, and especially the clothes. I'm so glad that they were finally all reunited; it was kind of stressing me out that they might not be!
